How the free quiz works

Ten questions about how a person likes to work, then a short list of trades to research.

1. No account to startA learner opens the quiz and answers ten multiple-choice questions about work style, such as where they want to work, whether they prefer fixing or building, comfort with heights and electrical work, and working solo or on a crew. A state question comes last.
2. Scored in the browser by fixed rulesThe quiz compares answers with eight trades: electrician, plumber, HVAC technician, welder, carpenter, CDL truck driver, roofer and painter. The scoring is a fixed set of rules, not an AI model, and it runs on the learner's device.
3. A match list with reasons and linksResults show top trades with short reasons why each might fit, plus links to official resources for that trade and state. It is a starting point for research, not a test of ability or a job placement.
4. PrivacyYour quiz result is stored only in this browser, for up to 30 days. Nothing is saved to an account unless the learner chooses to create one afterwards.

Can career advisors share TrainingForFuture with students for free?

Yes. Students and career changers can take the career quiz for free without an account or a credit card. A free account adds one saved career analysis. A one-time report and Pro are optional paid products, and nothing has to be purchased to share the free pages.

Does TrainingForFuture replace a school counselor or workforce professional?

No. TrainingForFuture is a career exploration and planning resource. It can help a learner compare skilled trades and prepare questions, but licensing, enrollment, financial aid and employment decisions should be verified with the responsible school, employer or public agency.

Does the quiz use AI or collect student data?

The free quiz is scored by fixed rules in the learner's browser and does not call an AI model. The result is stored only in that browser for up to 30 days, and nothing is saved to an account unless the learner creates one. Personalized analyses and roadmaps for account holders use AI assistance and are labeled as planning estimates.

Is TrainingForFuture endorsed by, or partnered with, any school or agency?

Where do the wage and training numbers come from?

Wages, growth and openings come from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (May 2025 wages and 2025 to 2035 projections). Training and licensing information comes from the BLS Occupational Outlook Handbook, Apprenticeship.gov and state agencies. See the methodology page for the full list and its limits.
